Foundations of Whole-Person Care

Arlene Schmid, PhD, OTR/L was interviewed about “Foundations of Whole-Person Care” on the Healing Connections Podcast episode 56.

Arlene shares the researched health benefits of whole-person care, including yoga, breath work, meditation, mindfulness, and many integrative health approaches. She describes how people are able to heal from physical and emotional pain and make better mind-body-spirit improvements and prevent illness and disability with whole-person care.

Arlene Schmid has been an occupational therapist for over 20 years and started to use yoga with her clients in the late 90s. She is a professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Colorado State University. Arlene is co-editor of “Integrative Rehabilitation Practice: The Foundations of Whole-Person Care for Health Professionals” and co-author of “Yoga Therapy for Stroke: A Handbook for Yoga Therapists and Health Care Professionals.” Arlene develops and tests yoga interventions for people with disabilities including, but not limited to: stroke, TBI, chronic pain, neuropathy, and Parkinson’s Disease. She has over 100 publications, most of which disseminate yoga research.
