OT and Integrative Health Presentations at AOTA 2024

This year, at the American Occupational Therapy Association Conference 2024, there will be several OT and Integrative Health presentations, as there have been in previous years.

Jennifer Allison, OTD, OTR/L has compiled a list of most of the classes and posters that are linked to integrative health topics. See the link below. Please comment below if there are any missed courses/posters that you are presenting and you want it highlighted on the list.

Thank you to all of the presenters at this year’s conference!

The Integrative Health and OT Community of Practice Group, through AOTA, will have a table at the SIS/CoP reception on Wednesday night and they hope to see everyone there. They plan to hand out Integrative Health and OT stickers throughout the conference.

We are pleased to see that energy healing will be taught, again, this year in the form of Reiki and are grateful to Rebecca Austill-Clausen and all of the presenters for teaching and highlighting the benefits of integrative health.

Rebecca “Becky” Austill-Clausen, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA is delighted to be teaching Reiki Level I and Level II, one-day, certificate-provided trainings for OT practitioners, students, educators, and researchers at the upcoming AOTA Annual Conference being held in Orlando, Florida. This is the 8th year in a row that Becky has taught Reiki at every in-person AOTA Annual Conference since 2015!

Reiki Level I is a Pre-Conference Institute which includes activation of your Reiki energy, philosophy, documentation, research, and learning self-Reiki. Multiple 1 to 1 partnerships where you receive and share Reiki with 3 different partners occurs. At the end of this one day Reiki training, offered on Wednesday, March 20 from 12-6:30 pm, you can provide Reiki to clients, family, friends, colleagues, animals, and plants as a Reiki Level I practitioner, after you receive your Usui Reiki Level I certificate in Natural Energy Healing.

Reiki Level II is presented in two 3 hour workshops on Thursday, March 21 from 8-11:00 am and 2:45-5:45 pm (you must attend both workshops, please and have received a Reiki Level I certificate from any Reiki Master). It includes “how and why” Reiki works, intermediate level hand positions, long distance healing, the use of supplemental modalities that work well with Reiki including crystalline energy, supportive research, and multiple one to one partnerships where you receive and share Reiki with three different partners. Both Reiki Level I and Reiki Level II include numerous sound healing events. At the end of the second Reiki workshop, you receive a Reiki Level II certificate in the Usui form of Natural Energy Healing.

Attending both Reiki Level I and Reiki Level II is all that you need to be a well-trained Reiki practitioner, using Reiki as part of OT!
