Course Description:
Energy healing may be one of the most ancient forms of healing as seen within many of the world’s wisdom traditions and cultures, including shamanism. The occupational therapist will gain an understanding of what energy healing is, a variety of energy healing approaches, how it can improve the OT practitioner’s self-care and client outcomes with activities of daily living, health, wellness, and prevention. Efficacy-based research is provided to support its use in clinics, hospitals, home care, skilled nursing facilities, community settings, and the health and wellness areas all across the life span.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe what energy healing is and how it can enhance health, wellness, prevention, and recovery.
- Identify three energy healing modalities and what is unique to them.
- Understand five research studies that demonstrate the benefits of energy healing.
- Experience one energy healing modality to improve self-care and client outcomes.
- Describe how energy healing can improve functional ability with activities of daily living.
- Understand how energy healing is a fundamental healing tool in integrative health.

Testimonials from Previous Students
“For an introductory class, the information was detailed enough to take away methods to be used for self care and with clients. It is a very positive subject, and I look forward to delving deeper into energy healing and other methods with Emmy.” Beth McGlynn, OTR/L
“Emmy has taken the time to organize and deliver a well-rounded class providing the details needed to help support any practitioner needing to feel more confident in their current Holistic Practice or for those seeking to expand in this area.” Jennifer Lauren, MSOT, Energy Healer, Intuitive, Reiki Master & Life Long Learner
“Such a breath of fresh air! Having felt misaligned with the current medical model and OT profession for some time, it felt so good to learn more and review the evidence about what I know to be true: everything is energy, and we must tune into the energy of ourselves, our clients, and our environments to help facilitate true health and healing. I’ve been unsure if I even fit anymore into the boxes of traditional OT–but Emmy provides the evidence and the reminders of our foundations and frameworks–that energy work is very much a part of our roles as holistic practitioners and what makes our profession so amazing!” Michelle Lillicrap, OTR/L and Feng Shui Master
“I appreciate this class. It helped reinforce that we have to be in touch with ourselves and work on ourselves so we can fully be in service to others. I think that is powerful. With my recent ortho surgeries due to a traumatic accident, it gave me fresh perspective of a patient and how powerless in the healthcare system you feel especially when immobilized, and holistic techniques give you a sense of empowerment back. Different forms of energy healing and now doing chair Tai Chi with what I can do, has helped me mentally, as well as decreasing pain/ inflammation, nausea, and improving sleep.” Courtney Merriss Prange, MOT, OTR/L, CEAS, CTP
“I enjoyed the class given by Emmy Vadnais. Her presentation was educational, fluid, and interesting. I’m looking forward to my next class.” Asha Changa, COTA/L, LMT, Reiki Master
“Very informative class for people who want to know about various types of holistic treatments. The instructor also offers additional classes for those who want to learn different techniques.” Ida Lee, OTR/L
“As an OT that is just beginning to scratch the surface of integrative health, the Energy Healing for Occupational Therapy class was the perfect course to open my mind to the possibilities of energy work. Emmy’s vast knowledge of the different energy modalities COMBINED with the scope of occupational therapy, allowed me to truly connect how I can use the tools in my practice. I recommend this course to any OT who is looking to expand their knowledge in holistic interventions.” Kailee McCown, M.S. OTR/L, CYT
“I loved this class. As a Reiki Master and OT it is helpful to know how these modalities can be woven into our practice with confidence. I appreciate Emmy so much for her work in these areas of Holistic OT since there has proven to be very little in these subject areas for those of us who are on a more holistic pathway but want to continue to hold our OT licenses and participate in continuing education within our niche. Thank you for the work you do Emmy!” Tanya M. Gauthier, LOTR
